Community Resources for Your Whole Household

Along with IOCP’s services for food, housing, childcare, and employment assistance, we have compiled additional resources to help individuals of all ages (youth through seniors) find the help they need.

Find information on a range of community resources – food assistance, bill paying help, other free or reduced cost programs – at findhelp.org.

Find information on applying for food assistance, cash assistance (Minnesota Family Investment Program- MFIP/General Assistance – GA) and emergency financial assistance (for one-time rent, deposit, utilities, etc.) in Minnesota at mnbenefits.mn.gov.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES RESOURCES

If your child attends school in the following districts, contact the schools directly as the schools partner with local agencies to give out backpacks and school supplies: Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina.

Back-to-School event in Brooklyn Center – Limited number of backpacks. First come first serve on August 21 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Back-to-School Bash in Brooklyn Park – Available to Kindergarten – 8th grade students. First come first serve on August 21 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Back-to-School Giveaway in Minneapolis – Available to anyone. First come, first serve on August 16 from 1 – 4 p.m.

Back 2 School Party in Robbinsdale – Available to anyone who registers. Event takes place on August 17 from 1 – 2 p.m.

Backpack Back 2 School Party in St. Paul – Available to anyone who registers. Event takes place on August 28 from 4 – 5 p.m.

Cross Services – Available to residents of Champlin, Corcoran, Dayton, Maple Grove, Osseo, and Rogers. (Must provide photo ID, proof of address, and proof of guardianship.) Stop by in August.

Greater Twin Cities United Way – Free School Supplies – The Back-to-School Brigade® furnishes families with needed supplies. United Way may have other resources as well.

Honored 2 Help’s 5th Anniversary Back 2 School BBQ (Brooklyn Park) – Available to anyone who registers. August 16 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

IOCP Food Shelf – helps families stretch their budgets by providing a welcoming grocery-store setting for guests to choose from a variety of healthy and culturally specific options, including fresh produce, dairy, snacks and a variety of meats. In addition, toiletries such as household and hygiene essentials are also available. Guests may visit by appointment as often as every other week. Sign up here to get started.

Resale Select store – offers a variety of budget-friendly clothes, books, household items, furniture, and more. Among the items in the store are household goods and office and school supplies, such as folders, paper, pens & pencils, and more. Learn more here, or contact your IOCP Case Manager or Neighborhood Program Coordinator if you have one.

Resource West – Available to children who attend Hopkins or Minnetonka schools OR residents of Hopkins, Minnetonka, Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven, Greenwood and Woodland. Registration available starting July 14. Must provide photo ID, proof of address, and identification for each child (birth certificate, social security card, or medical card.)

School Rocks Backpack Giveaway – Available to all students, must be present to win. First come, first serve. Event takes place at these Verizon stores: Champlin, Minneapolis (Lake St and Central Ave), Minnetonka, and Rogers on July 27 at 1 p.m.

STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency Program) – Available to children who live in St. Louis Park or go to school in St. Louis Park. Register (online or by phone) by August 11.

HOLIDAY RESOURCES

WINTER HOLIDAYS

IOCP focuses on year-round support. For resources for holiday gifts (for Christmas, Hanukkah, or Eid), please refer to the list below throughout the holiday season. Updates are ongoing. 

Christmas with Dignity (North Minneapolis) -Hosted by Hospitality House Youth Development  Friday, December 12th 2025 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Must live in one of the following zip codes: 55443, 55444, 55428, 55429,  55430, 55412, 55422 & 55411. Requires photo ID, birth certificate for each child, plus a utility bill showing the zip code.

December Holiday Toy Shop (Rogers) – Must be an active client of CROSS Services in 2025 and must have utilized the food program 3 months this past year. Must live in the service area- Maple Grove, Rogers, Osseo, Champlin, Dayton and Corcoran. Photo ID/ proof of address required.

Hag Sameach Program – If you are having hardships in celebrating the holidays – whether it is due to financial difficulties, medical reasons, isolation, or something else – JFCS is here for you! Please call 952-546-0616. JFCS’ Intake & Resource Coordination staff can connect you to the Hag Sameach program to receive gifts and ritual items for individuals and families in a confidential manner. You are also welcome to contact your synagogue and get a referral through synagogue staff.

Holiday Toy Program (St. Louis Park)STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency Program) offers this program to those who live in St. Louis Park only.

Operation Homefront – connects military families with critical financial assistance, caregiver support, and other holiday programs.

Operation SantaDownload “Dear Santa” letter templates (also in (Spanish), then have your child write ‘Santa’ a letter requesting what they would like for Christmas, send it to the address provided, and someone will “adopt the letter writer” and send your kids something ‘from Santa.’  

Prism Holiday Toy Shoppe– Click on the Green Box to get assistance, and fill out the pop-up form.

Resale Select store – offers a variety of budget-friendly clothes, books, household items, furniture, and more. In addition, IOCP clients are eligible for free clothing from Resale Select every six months. Learn more here, or contact your IOCP Case Manager or Neighborhood Program Coordinator if you have one.

Salvation Army Angel Tree – Once a child or senior adult has been registered and accepted as an Angel, their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in your community who purchase gifts of new clothing and toys. The gifts are distributed to your family to place under their family Christmas tree. To get started, enter your zip code at the bottom of this page.

Toys of Joy Holiday Program (Brooklyn Park) –  CEAP hosts a special event in December where parents can shop for toys for their kids in CEAP’s Community Room. Gifts are provided by generous community partners  and individual donors.

Toys for Tots – Families requesting toys can contact the local nonprofit agencies and organizations listed on this page or fill out this application to register for toys for your children.

HOTLINES

Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline – Call or text 988 for free phone counseling 24/7 

NAMI Help Line – National Alliance of Mental Illness – Call 1-800-950-NAMI (6264) or text ‘NAMI’ to 62640,  Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (CT) for free emotional and mental health support. Visit NAMI’s Minnesota office or find a NAMI Minnesota Support Group near you.

National Sexual Assault Hotline – Call 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) to connect with a trained staff member from a sexual assault service provider in your area. 

Trevor Project Crisis Support Hotline – Call 1-866-488-7386 or text ‘START’ to 678-678 for cCrisis support for LGBTQ+ youth 24/7, 365 days a year.

Minnesota Warmline – Call 651-288-0400, or text “Support” to 85511. Professionally trained Certified Peer Specialists, with first-hand experience living with mental health conditions will answer your calls. 

 

CRISIS SERVICES

COPE Mobile Crisis Response – 612-596-1223 – Crisis team available, face-to-face, by phone, or by video 24/7, 365 days/year. Services are free and if the individual has insurance then the county will bill insurance but there will be no charge.

HCMC Crisis Intervention Center – Call 612-873-3161 or visit: 730 South 8th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Walk-in lobby open 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. daily. Offers crisis intervention and treatment of mental health and psychiatric emergencies. 

Walk-in Behavioral Health Center – Call 612-879-3115 or visit: 1800 Chicago Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN 55405. Walk-in 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily. Serves Hennepin County residents 18+ with mental health or substance use needs. No one turned away due to lack of insurance or inability to pay.

IOCP PARTNERSHIPS 

Relate Counseling Center – Free counseling and mental health support to adults – individuals, couples and families – for families using Interfaith Outreach services. Counselors are available to meet in person at Interfaith on Mondays and Thursday, and for telehealth services Monday through Friday.

Washburn Center for Children – Counseling provided to support the social, emotional and educational development of children who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma or other mental health stressors. Washburn Center’s services are available on-site at Interfaith Outreach, in your home, at school, at a child care center, othrough telehealth services. Costs not covered by your insurance are paid for by this Interfaith/Washburn Center partnership.

ReSouled – Free Biblical Counseling to hurting individuals (ages 13 and older) and families. ReSouled helps people apply the life-changing principles of the Word of God to the issues they are facing. ReSouled’s mission is to help believers who are in need of spiritual, mental, emotional and relational healing experience intimacy with God and one another. ReSouled services are not therapy and they do not make mental health diagnoses.

Medicare in Minnesota Information Resource
Medicare in Minnesota is a resource center with a mission to tackle the challenges associated with Medicare. They do not sell or provide healthcare plans. They provide fact-based, data-driven, expert-reviewed information about Medicare and Medicare rights and advocate for solutions to healthcare coverage problems for aging adults. Their newly updated resource guide helps seniors through all of the available Medicare plan options and provides a list of helpful community organizations across Minnesota that can further support seniors with choosing a plan that meets their financial and medical needs.
