IOCP Gala Celebrates Community of Rock Stars and 45 Years of Service

Approximately 400 attendees gathered for the Spread Your Wings Gala on June 7 at Medina Entertainment Center to celebrate our community of rock stars and Interfaith’s 45 years of service.

This was a true celebration of the partnerships that have shaped our work for four and a half decades. The event would not have been possible without the sponsors, committee members, program speakers, volunteers, guests and staff who helped raise $565,000 for IOCP and its services.

The Spread Your Wings name originated from the expression “spread your wings and fly” and represents independence, soaring to new heights, and the way people may feel when they experience financial stability and community connections. The biennial gala (held every other year) began in 1996 and is one of the ways community members can support Interfaith’s mission in a fun and engaging way. This year the event included live and silent auctions, entertainment and games, guest speakers, and a live band. IOCP was honored to have Angela Davis of MPR News as event emcee, along with two past program participants who shared their inspiring stories.

Last year, IOCP worked with 4,800 local people to meet their basic needs and move toward ongoing stability. Investing in strategic partnerships is core to IOCP’s work and this event brings so many partners together to celebrate and make an impact.

Research we conducted last year showed that about 1,400 households in the IOCP service area have immediate needs; that is, they are lacking one or more basic need (food, clothing or shelter). Another 1,000 households are at risk of needing services, which means they are just one car repair, injury/illness or other unexpected emergency away from experiencing a financial crisis.

IOCP provides access to basic needs as well as stability services to address barriers to housing, childcare, financial assistance, transportation, and community connections.

At the heart of this work is putting the client community at the center of everything we do. Thank you for your continued support.
