Tina’s Story: Basic Needs and Beyond

Last year, Interfaith helped 954 households with children thanks to your support – and there are so many ways we did it.

Sometimes, this looked like distributing backpacks full of school supplies or granting scholarships to preschool or extracurricular activities. Other times, it looked like providing healthy food to families or connecting a parent to a better-paying job.

Your contributions help us support the growing needs of client households with children. Households with diverse challenges and busy schedules as they care and provide for their kids. Households like Tina’s.

“My partner was finishing college, and I was employed but not earning enough to support our family of four. Thanks to my youngest child’s daycare, I was able to work with IOCP and get a scholarship for her to stay there,” she explains.

Like many clients, Tina was connected to additional services – resources that would make a lasting impact on her entire household.

“I was then referred to the food shelf, worked with case management to create a family budget, and partnered with the employment services team to improve my resume and assist with a job search. I found employment within a few months that provided a much-needed boost to my income – enough to cover my family’s basic needs while we continued to use the scholarship to offset daycare costs,” Tina says.

Tina’s story is one that exemplifies the life-changing difference we can make for families right here in our community. Families that are struggling but can be empowered to stabilize thanks to your support.

“With the support of IOCP, my partner was able to graduate and accept a management position right out of college and I was able to increase my salary to eventually no longer need services. We started the journey as renters, but now we even own a home in this amazing community!” Tina reveals.
